Remembering Dad This Father’s Day

Father’s Day is this Sunday. While this day doesn’t get the attention that Mother’s Day does, and rightly so, it’s still a day to make dad feel loved and appreciated. Dads are pretty cool. While mom is always the one you run to when you get hurt, or need a good cry because your boyfriend/girlfriend just dumped you, dad is the one that always made you feel safe and secure. And if dad said it, it’s gotta be true! Some of my fondest memories of my dad are the Saturday mornings when he would come in to my room and wake me up so we could go down to the hardware store or lumber yard to pick up some stuff for a project he had. And dad always had to have a project! He could never just sit and relax. Always had to be doing something with his tools or building some new piece of electronic gear (from scratch) for his ham radio hobby. Dad taught me a lot about integrity. He always said if you tell someone you’re gonna do something, you DO IT! He taught me how to work. How to give an honest day’s work for an honest day’s pay. Yes, dad taught me a lot of things. Make sure you honor your dad this Sunday. Make him feel important. Tell him how much you appreciate what he’s done for you.
