St-George-TempleHere is my question…. Before I arrived in beautiful St. George, I knew nothing about the area. I loved the area. The views are amazing! I was told that I would be an outsider because I am Lutheran and not LDS. I was told that people who are LDS have issues with people who are not. (Don’t kill the messenger) Be honest, if you’re LDS and you meet people who are new to the area but are not LDS, do you have reservations?

I personally have enjoyed living in Southern Utah. The weather is awesome, the cities are clean and there is always something to do here. As for interaction with people in KONY COUNTRY…. It’s been great. For the most part. But you can go to any town in our great country and find idiots right? If I have an issue with someone is it because they are LDS? Not at all. I personally think some of the bad rap comes from people who project a bad image of the religion. Just like Catholics, Lutheran, Baptist, Jews and many others, we all have some bad apples. It’s those few people who reflect badly on the others. Again…. my opinion.

But I wonder, if you’re LDS…do you agree with me? Do you see new people to the area as welcomed members of the community regardless of religion?

I have lived here most of my life and bi am also Lutheran. I had a hard time growing up because some kids, not all, wouldn’t be my friend because I wasnt lds. I dont blame them its more of their up bringing. I met awesome friends in school and are still friends. Now that I’m older it’s harder to get to know people since I don’t go to the lds church. One of the first questions I get asked is what ward im in. I just hope my kids don’t go through what I did.

I have lived here my whole life and grown up in the LDS church. Everyone has their own opinions on who they want to accept or not it isn’t based off of just religion. All churches are going to have people who are judgmental and biased against other religions but I can tell you I have many friends and family members who are amazing people and are not a member of the LDS faith. And I absolutely love every single one of them. There are going to be judgmental people and haters regardless but it depends on the person you speak to, weather or not they have strong feelings about it or not. SO many people misunderstand the LDS faith and its hard because you can’t hate something or judge against it if you don’t understand it or have a true knowledge about it. you know? We love and accept everyone. Hope that helped :)
